Grateful for You & Please Meet New CEO!

Dear Friends,

As so many of us prepare to gather with friends and family tomorrow, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what we’re grateful for — and you are at the top of that list.

We are profoundly grateful for the tens of thousands of volunteers across the country who rescue and deliver fresh, high-quality food to communities in need every single day. Rain or shine, on the way to work or school, in retirement and all the ways you give back — you model what it means to care for your neighbors. Your dedication keeps good food out of landfills and brings nourishing meals directly to the people who need them most.

We are so thankful for the generosity of our supporters, food donors, and agency partners who make this mission possible.

And we are also grateful for the newest member of our team…

Please Meet Our New CEO, Sharon Enright!

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce Sharon Enright as the next Chief Executive Officer of Food Rescue US! Enright has held senior leadership roles in a purpose-driven organization as well as in highly competitive for-profit businesses.

Most recently, Enright led the growth of The Nest Climate Campus (TNCC), the Official Event Partner of Climate Week NYC in her role as Co-Founder, President and Chief Operating Officer of NXT Events Media Group, the parent company. Working to develop the vision, architecture and strategy for the Campus, Enright shaped the experience, messaging, branding and client outreach. In four years (even with the pandemic), The Nest Climate Campus grew from concept to become the largest and most inclusive climate solutions event in the U.S. and the premier climate action platform.

Formerly, Enright was Executive Vice President of Business Journals Inc. where she oversaw significant growth, launching 14 new trade shows and rebranding two events, until the organizer was acquired by UBM.

Britton Jones, Executive Chairman of Food Rescue US shared the following message:

“The Board of Directors of Food Rescue US is thrilled that Sharon Enright will be our next CEO. Her broad experience leading and growing organizations and her commitment to our dual mission of helping to end hunger in America while protecting our planet will help us drive even greater impact during this time of significant need. Millions of Americans go hungry every day while climate change is a reality we must face. Sharon is well positioned to lead the next big step forward for our organization.”

As we welcome Sharon to Food Rescue US, we also want to thank Melissa Spiesman for coming out of retirement to serve as Interim CEO during this time of transition. Melissa provided inspired leadership driven by her passion for, and deep ties to, the work of Food Rescue US. At this critical time of rising food insecurity, Melissa has led Food Rescue US to all-time highs in terms of impact by completing over 144,000 rescues of over 35 million meals 2025. We are tremendously grateful for Melissa’s service and cannot thank her enough for all she has done to make Food Rescue US such a driving force in helping to end hunger and protect the planet.

What’s Ahead: GivingTuesday & Year-End Impact

In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing meaningful ways you can help make a deep and lasting impact — beginning with #GivingTuesday and continuing through New Year’s Eve. Together, we can ensure no meals and no neighbors are left behind, especially when they need us most!

From all of us at Food Rescue US, thank you for your commitment to this mission. We’re grateful for you today and every day.

Warm wishes for a safe and meaningful Thanksgiving!
