Food Rescue US Receives $200,000 Grant for Technology from the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation

The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation has awarded Food Rescue US a grant in the amount of $200,000 in support of their web-based app. The Uber-like app is integral to their daily food recovery efforts, with nearly 60,000 food rescues conducted through the app in 2021 alone. This generous support will enable Food Rescue US to enhance their data collection and analysis capabilities and to improve the user-experience for the 38 locations using the platform for their food recovery efforts.

“We could not do what we do without our app technology,” said Melissa Spiesman, COO of Food Rescue US. “Without our app to coordinate rescues, we would not be able to partner with our large network of food donors, volunteers, and local agency partners. This grant is critical to our daily work and will help us take our app to the next level.”
