Food Donation, Reimagined

The more efficient way to

donate surplus food

Toast Donor Link Interface
FRUS App Donor Link

It’s fast, seamless, and free; ensuring good food gets to people who need it as quickly as possible.

Donation Logged - A staff member "rings up" a donation using their inventory management system or restaurant point of sale (POS) system, just like any other transaction. That donation is instantly sent to the Food Rescue US platform.

Seamless Pickup — Food Rescue US matches the food donation with a local social service agency and assigns a volunteer for pickup and delivery.

THE STORY BEHIND DONORLINK

We heard consistently that participating in food recovery wasn't a matter of willingness; it was a matter of friction. Food businesses invest heavily in their inventory and point-of-sale systems, and food donation used to mean changing processes or duplicating effort. That kept a lot of good food from being rescued. What if we built food recovery into the systems they already use?

DonorLink answers that question.

We applied to the ReFED Catalytic Grant Fund, whose investment made the project possible. Two years, countless developer hours, and dozens of beta testing and feedback sessions later, DonorLink is now a Toast integration; made possible in part through collaboration with Toast.org.

The ReFED Catalytic Grant Fund accelerates promising food waste solutions across the entire food system.

Through targeted open-call cycles, we deploy recoverable and non-recoverable grants, paired with hands-on support, to initiatives with the highest potential for meaningful food waste reduction.

Powered by ReFED’s best-in-class insights and deep sector expertise, each grant cycle is built around priority food waste themes, directing catalytic capital where it can unlock greater impact and funding.

Toast

DonorLink is now available on the Toast Integration Marketplace. Toast restaurants can connect directly to the Food Rescue US platform and begin logging food donations through their existing Toast point-of-sale system.
