Miami, FL, April 21, 2020 – Tiller & Hatch Supply Co., a brand of high-quality meals backed by global superstar Jennifer Lopez and Major League Baseball great Alex Rodriquez, is partnering with Food Rescue US – Miami to provide meals to 20,000 displaced hospitality workers throughout Dade and Broward county.
The couple most recently donated a million meals to those in need through Feeding America, and in an effort to give back to their home community of Miami, they are donating meal kits to South Floridians struggling from the impact of COVID-19. This partnership will help provide meals to thousands of recently unemployed employees in the hospitality sector as a result of closures of hotels, restaurants, and bars due to COVID-19.
“Doing good is part of the Tiller & Hatch DNA. We know how challenging this time is for many Americans trying to access and provide nutritious meals for their families and are pleased to partner with Food Rescue US in Miami to help try and alleviate the concern for food in South Florida,” said Jennifer Pullen, CFO & COO, Tiller & Hatch.
Tiller & Hatch Supply Co. offers healthy and nutritious chef-prepared frozen meals designed to feed families at a reasonable price. Each meal kit includes all the ingredients needed to prepare a meal for a family of four and can easily be prepared in a pressure cooker or on a stovetop burner.
The meal kits will be distributed by Food Rescue US – Miami out of the Newport Beachside Resort Hotel and other various locations throughout Miami. Each recipient can receive up to 3 meal kits, which can be used to provide 12 individual meals. Volunteers assisting with the distribution will include ones from Food Rescue US – Miami and FoodEASE. Meal kits were distributed by the Newport Beachside Resort Hotel over the past weekend and will be distributed from the following locations this week:
- The Vagabond Hotel – Tuesday, April 21st from 1pm – 4pm
- The Sylvester – Thursday, April 23rd from 1pm – 4pm
Over the past year, Food Rescue US – Miami has provided 250,000 meals and kept 300,000 pounds of food from landfill under the leadership of site director Ellen Bowen, including 35,000 pounds of excess food that was recovered from Super Bowl LIV in February 2020.
Started in 2011, Food Rescue US is a national nonprofit currently rescuing in 17 States and the District of Columbia. Using its proprietary app, food donors are connected with local social service agencies that feed the food insecure and volunteer food rescuers who directly transfer healthy, excess food from the food donor to social service agencies.

About Food Rescue US
Food Rescue US, a national nonprofit organization, is a leader in reducing both hunger and food waste in America by connecting the vast amount of healthy, fresh surplus food with the critical hunger demand. Through the use of its proprietary app, Food Rescue US provides the platform for volunteer food rescuers to directly transfer excess food from businesses to local social service agencies that feed the food insecure. By providing food that would otherwise be wasted and delivering it to the food insecure, Food Rescue US is keeping this wasted food from ending up in landfill where it decomposes, creating methane gas that warms the planet. Since 2011, Food Rescue US has helped launch food recovery communities in 25 locations across the country, providing 37 million meals and keeping 51 million pounds of food out of landfills.
